About the artist
The world around us is utterly beautiful if we will just take the time to look. The angle of a Manhattan skyscraper, the patterns in the vineyards of the Cote du Rhone in Southern France, or the staggering natural beauty of the Yellowstone back country all have their unique beauty. The real challenge is trying not just to capture that beauty of a place at a given moment, but rather something of how it makes one feel.
Technology now allows us all to take "nice" photos, and I am no exception. But the exceptional photos – the ones I know are likely to be special – those are the ones that keep me going.
When I was a kid, I learned from my Dad and my uncle that it took a LOT of exposures to come up with a few really good images. What a great lesson! It was certainly harder in their day as film wasn’t cheap and you couldn’t review your results on the fly. Software has made the “darkroom” accessible to most of us, but it still takes a lot of exposures and time in processing to find that one photo that others might actually want to display in their home or office.
NB: I do not add fake clouds, or other background elements to my photos.
Oh yes. About me. I’m a practicing OBGYN and Physician Informaticist based in Denver, Colorado.
